The Salinas High School Mountain Bike Club began in 2006 and competes in the NorCal High School League cross country mountain bike races. Our season runs from January – May and includes 5 races culminating with the State Championship where NorCal meets SoCal.
Our mission is to provide students with the desire to ride a mountain bike, the coaching and camaraderie that will help them to achieve both competitive and non-competitive cross-country goals in a safe and enjoyable manner.
The Cowboys have consistently been one of the most competitive teams in the state.
2016 will be our 9th season. From January – May the team practices three times each week and student riders perform additional training on their own. Preparing for the races involves many hours on the trail with coaches and ride leaders. Being part of the team has provided an outlet for students to improve riding skills, build character, make friends, and keep physically active. Like other NorCal League schools, our program seeks to strike a balance between being a competitive individual and team sport while retaining the social and recreational qualities of a club activity.
